The holiday break is quickly approaching. Many people are booking flights to see
friends, loved ones or tropical destinations. Others are madly trying to get in
the last few minutes of shopping before the stores close. Others are checking
out the Dentistry Library winter break hours to get in some extra study time…
and wait! What’s this? The Dentistry Library is closed from Friday December 20th
at 12:00 (noon) and will reopen Monday January 6th at 8:30am. So,
what’s a person to do if they need to find a quiet study space during the
holiday break? Don’t panic… there are a few U of T Libraries on the main campus
that are open during some of the
holiday break days 9am-5pm so you can at least get a few hours of quiet study
in over the break.
Please follow the hyperlinks below to see the holiday hours
for the following libraries:
·
Engineering and Computer Science Library located at 10 King’s College on the second
floor, room 2402, of the Sandford Fleming Building
The above libraries are all equipped with quiet study space,
computers that you can login to with our UTORid and printers (please note to
use printers at these libraries you will need to bring your TCard and load it
with money at one of the TCard machines – if you are not sure how to do this,
ask one of the friendly staff at the circulation or reference desks). Gerstein
has medical books and journals – although, the majority of the dentistry
specific books are housed at the Dentistry Library so if you are looking for
some good dental reading over the break, please visit us at the Dentistry
Library before Dec 20th at noon and check out some books.
Looking for a quiet study space on the weekends or after
hours when the Dentistry Library is closed during non-holiday break time? There
are some great options on campus. The three libraries listed above generally
have longer opening hours than the Dentistry Library with some sections of
Robarts library being open to the individuals with a valid TCard 24-hour a day
at certain times of the year!
Although not all mentioned locations are necessarily open during Christmas, this U of T
Life Blog “The best quiet spots to study on campus” (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3) will tell you about some hidden gems on campus that are the best quiet
study spaces. Happy studying!
